A product that is considered a single item - even if it consists of more parts, e.g. a cable, a bottle, a pair of glasses, a bicycle, etc. - is a single product.
To create a single product, click on New Item, fill in the required information in the fields - first in the header:
Title: The name of the item when listed in an e-commerce store or online marketplace. Be aware that different marketplaces have varying character limits, e.g. Amazon allows for a maximum of 256 characters.
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): The unique identification, usually alphanumeric, of a particular product that is used for internal inventory purposes.
Bin: The specific location of a product, or SKU, in your warehouse or shelf.
Below the header, there are four tabs to fill out to create a product.
Info
The Info Tab lists general specifications of the product.
In Stock: The number currently available in all of your inventory in all warehouses.
Product Cost: The cost of the sold (individual) product as per invoice when purchased from vendor or manufacturer.
Shipping Cost: The cost of bringing the product into the warehouse (by shipping carrier or courier). If you bought it wholesale, divide the cost into the number of items.
Other Cost: Any miscellaneous cost that you want to add, such as assembly, hauling, packaging, etc.
Total Cost: The sum of Product Cost, Shipping Cost, and Other Cost.
Note: Special characters, such as a dollar ($), percentage (%), pound (#), or similar signs are not allowed in these fields.
Manufacturer: The brand (if labeled) or company name that the product was produced under.
Brand Name: The brand that the product carries. This may be identical of different from the manufacturer.
MSRP: The manufacturer's suggested retail price. If the product is sold with permission from the manufacturer, this price is set so all authorized sellers have the same reference point.
Sales Price: The actual price any online customer will pay for the product. This cannot be higher than MSRP or lower than the Minimum Sales Price.
Min. Sales Price: The sales price set by the manufacturer, vendor or you, so that it becomes impossible to sell it for lower than that.
Minimum Level: The set quantity that will trigger a color change on the inventory table to help remember to reorder or restock. Orange when below the set number; red when out of stock.
Color: The color that would be the most prominently visible when describing the product. For multiple colors, use a comma to write these (e.g. Black, White or Black, White, Green).
Weight: The weight of the product that only includes its retail packaging measured in lb (pounds) and oz (ounces). Note that shipping weight will probably be more as it will include an additional envelope or box.
Width: The width of the product that only includes its retail packaging measured in in (inches).
Height: The height of the product that only includes its retail packaging measured in in (inches).
Length: The length of the product that only includes its retail packaging measured in in (inches).
You can use whole numbers, like 3, 5, 14, or numbers with decimal points (not fractions), such as 5.5 or 7.25.
Cancel: Cancel the most recent changes that you made.
Delete: Delete the product, including all text information and images with it. Note: If an item is linked to an order (current or past) the product cannot be deleted as it would cause discrepancies in inventory reporting.
Save: Save the information with the most recent changes that you made.
Identifier
Enter at least one of the following numbers depending on the type of product.
UPC: 12 numeric digits that are uniquely assigned to each item to identify a product at point of sale (POS).
ISSN: International Standard Serial Number is an 8-digit serial number used to uniquely identify a serial publication.
EAN: International Article Number (also known as European Article Number) is a 13 numeric digits standard to identify a specific retail product type.
ISBN: The International Standard Book Number is a 10 or 13-digit numeric commercial book identifier.
GTIN: Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) is an 8, 12, 13, or 14 digit identifier for trade items, developed by GS1.
Bullet Points
There are 5 text fields available to list information about the product. (Amazon accepts each bullet point with a maximum of 250 characters.) Note that this list is for internal purposes only and does not upload to the sales channel.
Description
There are two fields - a short description (200 chars.) and a long description (500 chars.) - that need to be filled to complete the listing. Note that this list is for internal purposes only and does not upload to the sales channel.
Images
You can upload up to 12 images of the product one by one or in bulk using the shift key on your keyboard. Once you upload these images, Shiptory creates image URLs which you can use to upload to product listings on your online store.
The first image on the list will be shown in your inventory table as the featured image in swatch form. To change the order, drag and drop the images as desired. The list below the images will be synced as you move the images.
To remove an image, hover over it to see the Remove button and click on it. You have 5 seconds to click on Undo to cancel the action. Otherwise, the image will be deleted. To remove all images at once click on the Remove All button under the first image and confirm when prompted.
To see the image(s) in large size, click on the expand symbol on the right corner of the image. All other images of the product will be listed on the upper left area of the expanded image.
